Alright y’all, gather round because I’ve got the most bodacious burger recipe for you that will even fool the staunchest of meat eaters.

These Portobello Mushroom Burgers are so juicy and meaty you’d swear there was a beef patty underneath but I promise, it’s 100% veg!

I’m always looking for quick and easy dinners that don’t sacrifice on flavour.

These bad boys hit the spot perfectly.

All you need is 6 simple ingredients you probably already have lying around to whip them up in under 30 minutes.

No fuss, no muss, just outstanding umami-packed burgers ready for your bun in no time.

The secret is the balsamic and soy sauce marinade.

It pumps so much savoury deliciousness into those ‘shrooms it’s uncanny.

Once they hit the grill, they soak up all those deep, meaty flavours until you’ve got yourself the tastiest veg patties ever.

Even self-professed carnivores went back for seconds, I swear!

Alright, here’s the deets.

Make sure to marinate those portobello caps for at least 30 mins before cooking so they’re nicely coated.

Then just a few minutes per side on a hot grill or grill pan is all it takes — keep an eye so they don’t burn!

Build your burgers however you like, but I suggest a schmear of guac or pesto plus all the usual fixings.

You won’t be able to tell these beauties from beef!

Portobello Mushroom Burgers

Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 15 mins
Serves: 4

Ingredients:

  • 4 large portobello mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Clean mushroom caps and remove stems.
  2. In a large ziplock, combine balsamic, soy sauce, oil and S&P
  3. Add mushroom caps and massage bag to thoroughly coat
  4. Let marinate 30 mins
  5. Preheat grill to medium
  6. Grill caps 5–7 mins per side until tender
  7. Serve on buns with your favourite toppings!
